Event description

Description

U3A members are privileged to be invited to the Crick’s new, purpose-built research centre. With some 1,250 researchers, the Crick is the largest biomedical research institute under a single roof in Europe. Crick scientists, Caroline Hill and Daniel Miller will trace the history of cancer research and explore the most exciting avenues for future progress, from cancer genomics to immunotherapy.

Scientific and technological advances over the past 40 years have helped double the rate of cancer survival. But why does cancer develop, how do scientists study it in the lab, and what are the major areas of hope for the future? Find out what today’s lab work could mean for future generations.

The meeting is free of charge and includes refreshments from 3.30pm in The Crick Gallery. Tickets will be issued on a first-come first-served basis. Maximum 2 per applicant.
