Join us for a clockwise walk along the route of Canley Brook, a watercourse that embraces campus and part of which will be rerouted to make way for HS2. After an introduction and listening exercise on campus, the walk picks up the Canley Brook in nearby Prior Deram Park, and follows it around to the Rootes Ponds and along the Connect2 Kenilworth path to David Nash's Habitat sculpture, where the Canley flows into now HS2 requisitioned land, before crossing under the Kenilworth Road and returning to campus.
Meet at the Piazza at 12noon sharp on Monday 14 June. Please bring appropriate footwear and gear for all weathers. The walk will take 2 hours.
Places are limited to 15 students, so please cancel your registration if you are no longer able to attend. Please ensure that you take care to follow appropriate social distancing. You will not be required to wear masks since we will be outdoors (but you may do so, of course, should you feel more comfortable).
The listening walk will be facilitated by Jonathan Skinner (English) and Naomi Waltham-Smith (CIM) as part of the Sampling Sounds of Coventry's Future project which being curated by CIM staff Noortje Marres and Naomi Waltham-Smith, together with Nirmal Puwar (Goldsmiths) for Coventry City of Culture: https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/cross_fac/cim/research/sampling-sounds-of-the-future.
