Join us on a vibrant and immersive guided tour of Canna House. Built in 1863 and later gifted to the National Trust for Scotland by John Lorne Campbell and Margerat Fay Shaw. The house reflects their life’s work in collecting, preserving, and celebrating the Gaelic culture.
Filled with literature, personal artifacts, and an impressive collection of moths and butterflies, each room in Canna House tells a unique story and offers a glimpse into the fascinating lives of the Campbells and their dedication to recording and preserving Gaelic song, language, and island life.
Visitors are invited to learn about the extensive Gaelic archive at Canna House, that’s now in the care of the Trust however, due to the ongoing cataloguing project access to the archive is not available at this time, but sound recordings and film footage from the Campbell's collections will be a part of this engaging tour.
The 90-minute tour is conducted in English, and visitors are asked to arrive 5–10 minutes early to leave jackets and bags in the cloakroom and meet at the main door of the house where the tour begins.
Visitors can purchase a selection of NTS retail items as souvenirs to remember their visit to the house.
