An evening of atmospheric folk songs and virtuosic instrumental dances from Latin America and Europe, performed on flute/voice and guitar
About this event
British flutist and singer Emily Andrews and Colombian guitarist Francisco Correa met at a music festival in France in 2011, and their duo grew from there, both musically and personally(they are now married with two children). Both prize-winning international soloists, they have performed all over UK Europe and South America and appear regularly on the radio both sides of the Atlantic.
They combine music from the European classical and South American folk repertoire, varying their instrumentation from solo guitar, to guitar and flute, to Brazilian choro tunes and Colombian folk songs accompanied with guitar. This mixture of gorgeous repertoire and influences, together with their high artistic level from years of rigorous classical training, produces unique concerts which delight audiences.
Emily and Francisco live locally to Emersons Green and are delighted to perform this concert as the closing event in this year's 3 Greens Festival - a festival of all things to be celebrated but especially Emersons Green, Lyde Green and the Earth itself.
In addition to their performing work, they last year set up their own cross-genre music festival in South Gloucestershire – please check out Ham Farm Festival which this year runs from July 28-31!
