Sysnopsis below....
“The Murder at Lower Ashford”
Christmas Eve, 1937. Alexander Mackenzie and his sister Anne were heading home
for Christmas when their car broke down in a snowstorm just outside the little
village of Lower Ashford. They trudged through the snow until they came to The
Cedars, an imposing Victorian villa owned by Joshua Riley, a Solicitor who lived
there with his wife Isabel. Also staying there for Christmas was family friend
Detective Inspector Charles Appleby. Joshua Riley agreed that Alexander and his
sister should stay there overnight until the storm cleared and their car could be
recovered.
As they sat comfortably by a log fire, lit only by the twinkling candles on the
Christmas Tree, conversation turned, not unexpectedly, to crime and to an
unexplained death that had occurred in the village on the 20 th December just two
years before. A body had been found in the snow, dressed in a Father Christmas
costume. They decided to go to a local Inn for a meal and the talk soon returned to
that death.
As the details of that unsolved crime were revealed, the convivial atmosphere gave
way to tension, and it became clear that those present were harbouring secrets which
might have some bearing on the death. It was evident that Inspector Appleby would
be called on to get to the bottom of the mystery.
Will you be able to help him follow the clues to the only possible culprit? Will there
be a further death? Inspector Appleby intends to get to the truth before Christmas
Day dawns.
