Event description

Description

£2 donation per person on the door!

Help us celebrate the launch of our special charity anthology of poems and short stories, Tales from the Upper Room, published by Bridge House Publishing.

Enjoy a showcase of local writing talent with readings from local Canvey Writers... from new writers to published novelists and competition winners!

All profits from the sale of the book and proceeds from the evening will go to support the work of Havens Hospices.

** Please note ** the tickets say free but we ask for a minimum donation of £2 per ticket on the door (sorry, no concessions). The whole £2 will go to the charity as the writers have kindly agreed to pay for the hire of the church and donate refreshments themselves. This is so as much money as possible is directed to where it's needed! Feel free to donate more if you can ;)

You will need your free eTicket as there are limited spaces. So, if after purchasing a ticket, you find you are no longer able to attend, then please let us know as soon as possible so we can resell it! You will be able to reply to your confirmation email to let us know!

WHAT YOU GET!

  • Readings! Some humerous, some dark, some poignant, some thought-provoking... all enjoyable! But please note the event is not for children as most of the stories and poems were written for adults. Sorry. It's a story-telling evening for the grown-ups!

  • Refreshments donated by our lovely writers: nibbles and hot and cold drinks, maybe even a glass of wine or two ;)

  • Raffle for Havens Hospices... prizes donated by the group!

  • Authors will be selling and signing copies of the book! And their other titles ... just in time for Christmas!

Help us support Havens Hospices to do their wonderful work! http://www.havenshospices.org.uk/

It promises to be a fun night to show you what a talented bunch of writers the island has! We meet in the upper room of St Nicholas once a month... and this is what we get up to! We also have some of the daytime library writing group on the island reading for us too! And at the same time, we will raise much-needed funds for a fantastic cause!

See you there! Debz (Founder of Canvey Writers St Nicholas Group)...
