Canyon Lakes Ranger District Kids Free Fishing Fest

WHO?: The whole family is invited to our event, but it's specifically geared for educating children ages 15 and under on the basics of fishing, aquatic biology and outdoor ethics.Youth must be accompanied by an adult. The event takes place on Colorado's free fishing day, so the whole family can come along and fish too.
WHAT?: Fun, free event learning fishy facts and fantastic fishing fun!
WHEN?: State of Colorado Free Fishing Day Saturday, June 7th, 2014 8:00-8:30a.m. Check-in, 8:30a.m.-1:30p.m. Fishing Fest (fishing and education). On free fishing day, possession of a license for those 16 and older is not required.
WHERE?: West Lake Day-use Area: Just off Red Feather Lakes Road (CR 74E) on the Roosevelt National Forest. Directions: Drive 21 miles north of Fort Collins on U.S. Highway 287.Turn left (west) on to the Red Feather Lakes Road (County Road74E). Drive approximately 22 miles; turn on Dowdy Lake Road. The $5 day use fee is waived for this day.

WHY?: To educate young people and interest them in the wonderful world of fishing and the outdoors. Registered kids aged 15 and under will receive a free fishing pole to get them started!
HOW?: To join in on the fun, please sign-up and register each of your kids who will be participating.
What to bring: Make sure to bring water, lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, fishing gear (children’s gear will be provided), and a cooler (in case you want to keep your catch). It's Colorado, so be prepared for any weather conditions.
