In 2007, Abdi won the Your Comedy Star competition at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He was also nominated "Best Newcomer" in the Black Entertainment Comedy Awards,and came third in the Revels Chortle Student Comedy Awards. In 2011, Abdi came joint second in The Barbican Hackney Empire New Act of the Year competition. He has performed at some of the more established comedy clubs on the United Kingdom circuit, including Hackney Empire, Edinburgh Festival (2007), Trafalgar Square (Eid in the Square), Jongleurs (Various), The Comedy Store. Besides the UK, Abdi has also done stand-up shows in Canada, the United States, Holland, Northern Ireland, Kenya and Turkey. Additionally, Abdi has done various tours with other Muslim comedians. In July 2008, he performed at the Islam Expo in Olympia, London. In July 2011, he toured four UK cities in the Peace Youth and Community Trust's (PYCT) first Muslim Comedy Tour.
In 2013 he was a BBC Radio New Comedian of the Year finalist, but he did not tell his wife about this.
He performed around 60 gigs in 2009 before moving to Germany to work as a scientist. He stopped comedy for three years, taking it up again in late 2012 with an entirely new set. He now gigs in clubs all over the country and in 2014 he performed a two man show with Ant Dewson at the Edinburgh Festival, ‘Life in the Bus Lane’.
Other credits include being nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedy Award, 2014 (third place).

President Obonjo of Lafta Republic has been performing stand-up comedy since 2010. The President
is a comedy character, whose set combines political and personal story lines (drawing on his alter ego’s experiences and influences as a British Nigerian), the impact of Social media on his life, and the nonsense of modern life. He is a bit of a charmer in his Field Marshal’s uniform!

President Obonjo has gigged all over the UK, including at: Soho Comedy Club, Comedy Cafe, Marlborough Comedy Night, Encore Comedy Club, Comedy Untapped, Piccadilly Comedy Club, Platinum Comedy Club, Comedy Factory, UK Comedy Festival, and One Night Stand.
Bilal Zafar was nominated for Best Newcomer for his debut show at the Edinburgh fringe 2016. Winner new Act of 2016 (previous Hackney Empire new act of the year). Bilal joined the company of previous winners such as Stewart Lee, Ardal O’Hanlon, Joe Wilkinson and Linda Smith. 2015 he was the runner up at the Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year competition. He has appeared on BBC3, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Asian Network, and has written for The Independent.
