Event description

Description

The Capacity and Self-Determination (Jersey) Law 2016 "the CSDL" came into effect from 1 October 2018. It affects everyone in Jersey aged 16 and over.

The CSDL legally defines people’s decision-making, including future decisions about care or treatment and appointing others to make decisions on their behalf.

The CSDL ensures the human rights of people who lack capacity are at the forefront of decisions about their care and treatment.

Everyone must follow the principles of the law, professionals and family alike.

This workshop covers:

  • overview of the CSDL
  • the five core principles of the CSDL
  • capacity and the CSDL
  • more about best interests
  • legal decision makers (including Lasting Powers of Attorney & Delegates)
  • accountability and the CSDL

This event is aimed at professionals, but members of the public are welcome.
