Partnership working for Waltham Forest educational settings, artists & arts organisations
Course Outline
This course offers early years, primary, secondary and sixth form college staff, artists and arts organisations working in Waltham Forest an opportunity to explore ways of effective partnership working to deliver high quality arts projects in educational settings. It will give an insight into the benefits of partnership working, ways to nurture the partnership and ensuring the sustainability of the creative achievement.
Programme:
1.30-1.40pm Self-serve refreshments available on arrival
1.40-1.45pm Welcome and introductions, Sharon Trotter
1.45-2.00pm Virginie Clarke – First Draft Advocacy toolkit – Making the Case for the Arts to your Partners
2.00-2.25pm Case Study –School 21 - a pioneering new 4 to 18 school in Stratford, East London, using creativity to give students a challenging and exciting curriculum and the chance to find their voice, develop deep knowledge and understanding, and create beautiful work that has real value beyond the classroom. They have also found partnership has brought valuable income generating opportunities, Debbie Penglis
2.25-2.55pm A New Direction (the Arts Council Bridge Organisation for London) will present a practical session on exploring the successes and challenges of working in partnership. They will draw on extensive experience of arts partnership working and signpost to toolkits and other resources they have developed. 2.25-2.55pm Case Study – Wonder with Light: bring science and creativity together in an immersive learning environment for Early Years and Primary settings in Walthamstow, Morag McGuire, Artillery CIC and Helen Currie, FANS (Forest Alliance of Nursery Schools)
2.55-3pm BREAK
3-3.10pm Case Study – Roger Ascham Primary & Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures Dance Company’s London Borough of Culture Nutcracker project, Matt Hanks, Headteacher
3.10-3.30pm What artists/arts organisations need to know about schools and what schools need to know about artists/arts organisations. Exploring some of the practicalities including finance, safeguarding, the new Ofsted Framework, terminology & timetabling.Sarah Vallois and Chantelle Michaux
3.30-4.15pm Thanks and Evaluations
4.30-7pm
There will also be an opportunity to attend a private view of the Kehinde Wiley exhibition, with arts marketplace and networking after the CPD from 4.30-7pm.

This course is free to educators working in Waltham Forest. However, cancellations received less than 7 days before the course start date will be charged at £65.00 per participant.
