Horkheimer and Adorno's Dialectic of Enlightenment was first published (in book form) seventy years ago. It contains a critique of capitalist society as the extreme point in the development of a human civilization that expands our productive and intellectual potential while it also constrains our capacity to make use of them. Antisemitism is one of the focal points through which Horkheimer and Adorno make this argument. This lunch-time talk will highlight aspects of this argument that have contemporary resonance.
Free seminar for scholars.
