Event description

Description

A political refugee who fled to London, Karl Marx, was able to study Capitalism in the very crucible where it began & grew into a dominant world system.

Using the most up-to-date information available in the British Museum Reading Room, Marx revealed that periodic crisis is endemic to capitalist economies, long before his analysis was proved right in massive form in the likes of the Great Depression in 1930's America, and the near complete collapse of the banking system in Britain in 2008 which has led to the monsterous era of Austerity and Cuts that has become the "norm" in the 6th richest economy in the world - Britain!

The third in a series of classes providing an introduction to Marxist theory. Professor John Foster leads the discussions on the fundamentally disruptive influence of monopoly capitalism on the capitalist system.

This class is free to attend and is open to all.
