Event description

Description

Are you a Captain Pugwash fan? If so, this is an event you don’t want to miss.

Join Isabel Ryan, the daughter of the man who created Captain Pugwash, John Ryan, who is coming to The Word to give a talk about the history of the infamous animated pirate.

Finding fame in 1950, Pugwash remains nostalgic to many people and this talk will take you back through his success and discuss how the writer, John Ryan, created such an iconic character.

Isabel will demonstrate the traditional animation style, show the original books and engage the audience with the range of original items on show.

Our popular pirate exhibition, Shiver Me Timbers, comes to an end on 19th February and features some of the original Captain Pugwash work donated by Isabel.
