Captain Webb 150th Anniversary Open Water Swim

Join us at the Dover Sea Sports Centre to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Captain Webb's historic swim across the English Channel! Dive into the same waters where he made history and be a part of this special event. Whether you're a seasoned swimmer or just looking for a fun challenge, this is an experience you won't want to miss. Come make a splash with us!

11am Registration Opens

12noon Junior & Novice Event (660m swim) entry cost £10pp

1pm Senior Event (1.9km swim) entry cost £15pp

2pm Captain Webb Procession from Swim Statues to the Marina Curve

2.30pm Prize Giving Ceremony

Note: Safety Briefing is 15 mins prior to your race start

Frequently asked questions

What distances are available?

For Seniors (aged 16yrs+) the swim course is 1.9km and for Juniors & Novices (aged 11yrs+) the swim course is 660m

How do I know which event I should enter?

To participate in the SENIOR event, you must be aged 16yrs+ and an intermediate/experience swimmer who can comfortably swim for 1,500m+. For the NOVICE event you must be aged 16yrs+ and able to comfortably swim for 600m+. For the JUNIOR event you must be aged 11-15yrs and comfortably swim for 600m+.

Do I have to sign a Declaration?

Yes, on arrival you will be asked at registration to sign a Declaration. This will include questions about your medical status and your swimming ability.

Will there be a Safety Briefing?

Yes there is a mandatory Safety Briefing 15mins prior to the race start time.

Can I wear a wet suit?

Wetsuits are permitted however prizes will only be awarded to non-wetsuit swimmers to maintain the heritage of Captain Webb's achievement.

Where can I get changed?

There are changing facilities and toilets within Dover Sea Sports Centre.

Where can I park?

There are three nearby car parks; Harbour House Car Park, 12 Cambridge Rd, Dover CT17 9BU, Camden Crescent Car Park, Dover CT16 1LE or Marine Parade Car Park, Dover CT16 1LG

What does my swim entry include?

1) Commemorative Swim Hat, 2) Water safety cover including lifeguard and medical support, 3) Supervised bag storage area, 4) Toilet and changing facilities.

What are the age restrictions?

Seniors must be a minimum of 16yrs on the day of the event, Novices and Juniors must be a minimum of 11yrs on the day of the event and all unnder 16year olds must have a parent or guardian with them on the day.

Are tow floats mandatory?

For Juniors and Novices tow floats are mandatory. For the Senior Event tow floats are optional.

Will there be prizes?

Yes there will be 12 prizes in total! For 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the Senior Mens, Senior Ladies, Junior Boys and Junior Girls. Prizes will be awarded at approximately 2.30pm.
