Event description

Description

From 23rd - 29th March, the Great British Non-Native Species Secretariat (GBNNSS) are hosting a national Invasive Species Week; you can find more information on this event by clicking here.

Here at Capturing our Coast Southwest, we wanted to add to the search for invasive species in the marine environment... and we need your help!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

This Capturing our Coast Survey Day is an event for anyone and everyone to attend, so please feel free to bring your friends and family along!

** Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18 years. **

If you already quadrat trained and have your own equipment, you are welcome to attend this event and also help us record quadrat data.

We will meet at the top of the steps (above the Terrace Cafe and next to the ice cream kiosk) at 09:45am, heading down to the rocky shore below to make a start on our Marine Invasive Species timed searches at 10.00am; low tide is at 11:25.

If you are running a little late then please don't worry, simply head down the steps to the eastern side of Tinside Lido to join us when you arrive.

If you would like to take a look at our Marine Invaders timed surveys beforehand, please feel free to click here for more information on what you can help us search for.

Parking

Parking is available in many places around Plymouth City at varied cost... there are one or two free car parks about though!

If you are looking for nearby parking, then you can park for the duration of the survey at Elphinstone Car Park (PL1 2NU) for £3.50, which is a 7 minute walk away.

If you would prefer free parking, then this can be found at Strand Street Car Park (PL1 3RL) which is a 30 minute walk away.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't forget your wellies, waterproofs, warm clothing, a packed lunch and a pencil!

Although this is a great chance to add to the CoCoast dataset, we're keen for everyone to enjoy themselves, get to know each other and gain valuable experience along the way!

If you have any questions in advance of this Survey Day, feel free to get in touch: cocoast@mba.ac.uk.
