Event description
An opportunity to make a short film in an afternoon. No experience necessary - just enthusiasm. Experience Portsmouth through a new lens!

About this Event

A community film making workshop with Dr Yael Friedman (Senior Lecturer, School of Creative Technologies, University of Portsmouth)

Part of Being Human Festival 2020

This event will be an interactive community filmmaking workshop, ideal for all ages groups and experience levels. Whether you are a film fan with an interest in filmmaking, or simply fancy trying your hand, this workshop will offer a series of short practical film exercises which will help you to create a film diary of the cultural diversity of Portsmouth as a contemporary island city with a rich history of migration and broad community identity. Along with learning new skills – on your smartphone or other device – local participants will experience Portsmouth in a new way, and think about how diverse cultures can be understood through the media culture of film.

***Note: Subject to government guidelines, this workshop will be limited in capacity due to social distancing practices. It may be held online in the event of further changes***
