Event description

Description

An opportunity for you and your lab to be certified as Carbon Literate.

What is Carbon Literacy for Labs?
Carbon Literacy for Labs is a low-carbon culture change initiative. It is a certified course designed to inspire and promote sustainable laboratory choices and behaviours. This 1-day course will deliver relevant climate change knowledge, effects and solutions to laboratory groups.

Why should my lab become Carbon Literate?
A certified Carbon Literate lab should expect to reduce its energy use, consumption of materials and chemicals, equipment wear, and therefore save grant money alongside carbon emissions. A Carbon Literate lab also displays its values clearly when seeking research grants. A certified Carbon Literate lab user will have an awareness of the everyday choices that can reduce the climate impact of their research. This course would normally cost £45/person to attend. The first 84 places are free of charge (first come, first served). Certified labs will be amongst the first Carbon Literate Labs in the world.

How do I sign up my lab staff and students?
We are encouraging all PIs/Lab leaders to attend along with their students and entire lab staff (technicians, post-docs, research assistants etc.). We are also accepting anyone working in stores and other key roles that are indirectly associated with labs to sign up to inspire Carbon Literate action.
