Changing cinemas for a changing world

About this Event

The world is changing and the film industry has to change with it. As leading arts institutions declare a climate emergency and funding bodies enact new sustainability policies, the onus is on organisations across the screen sector to embrace their responsibilities as agenda-setters and provide audiences with experiences that are both culturally rewarding and environmentally responsible.

With that in mind, we're excited to be partnering with our colleagues at HOME to offer Film Hub North Members free Carbon Literacy Training on Thursday, 23 January. This session will help exhibitors understand the impact of their everyday activities and equip them with the skills and motivation to reduce their emissions on an individual, community and organisational basis.

Led by experienced instructors based at HOME - the world's first arts organisation to train 100% of their staff in Carbon Literacy - this workshop consists of two parts: a film to be watched in advance of the training and the group session itself. By the end of the day, participants will have completed an action form that will be sent to the Carbon Literacy Project for certification.

Notes for attendees

  • A maximum of 2 people per organisation can attend. Total capacity for the workshop is limited to 16 people, so we advise early booking.
  • Film Hub North is subsidising the usual cost of Carbon Literacy Training, allowing Members to take part for free. If you register and can't make it, please let us know so we can offer your ticket to someone else.
  • After you register, a member of our team will be in touch to provide more information on which environmental film to watch in advance of the session. This is an essential part of the training.
  • This is an exhibitors only event, open to Members of Film Hub North. If you're not a Hub Member and are interested in attending, please contact: roisin@filmhubnorth.org.uk
  • We may be able to provide travel subsidies to help Members attend. Please get in touch with us to discuss this: alison@filmhubnorth.org.uk
  • This workshop will take place in the event space on the 2nd floor of HOME - if in doubt, just ask a member of the box office team for directions
  • Lunch will be provided
