About this event
- 4 hours
The course is accredited by The Carbon Literacy Project. It is designed for anyone who works in Financial Services who would like to have a robust understanding of climate change, its relationship with financial institutions and how you can be an effective change agent in your organisation. After completing the course, you can receive a certificate from The Carbon Literacy Project certifying you as ‘Carbon Literate’.
Here's what our previous course participants have said:
The Carbon Literacy course really opens our eyes to both the level of damage we are causing and the urgency with which we need to start changing what we do, both personally and in our workplaces. This is a highly educational experience and includes a number of measures we can all take to reduce emissions and prevent harm going forward. I highly recommend it.
Really worthwhile, great foundations!
The course was very good. It was well structured and the slides were excellent in both design and content. Rick explained the concepts in easy to understand language.
I think everyone should learn about this topic and I can think of no one better equipped to teach it then the team of Three Point Five. They obviously care a great deal about the topic and yet the course is based on facts, not feelings, delivered in a down to earth and compassionate way. Big recommendation for everyone interested, and maybe even more for those not interested.
Really enjoyed it and found the two sessions very interesting.
The course didn’t assume one type of business to fall under ‘financial services’ it gave lots of stats from leading organisations and was clearly articulated for us to understand .
Fab course, thank you!
Participants will learn
- How our climate is changing, what’s causing it and how bad it’s expected to get in the future
- What we need to do according to the science to tackle climate change
- How financial institutions fit into the problem – including the emissions they have influence over and what they can do to reduce them
- The carbon footprint of an average UK household and the key ways individuals can reduce their emissions
- The co-benefits of tackling climate change
- How to talk to others about climate change
To receive a Carbon Literacy certificate participants must complete an evidence form in which they pledge to undertake an individual and group action to reduce their carbon footprint. Upon successful assessment, a learner is awarded a uniquely numbered certificate.
Frequently asked questions
On completion of the course, you will receive a Carbon Literacy certificate once you have completed an evidence form, in which you must pledge to undertake an individual and group action to reduce your carbon footprint.
The course is eight hours long. It takes place over two 4-hour sessions which are delivered over two half days.
The training is divided into four modules. Over the four modules we'll dive into climate science, what we need to do to reach net-zero, the role of financial institutions in addressing climate change and lastly, how we can engage others in climate action.
The course is for anyone, in any role within the financial services who would like to have a robust understanding of the climate crisis so that they can make informed decisions that will reduce emissions in their organisation.
