Carbon Literacy Training

Founded by a doctor, we deliver funeral care which makes a challenging time easier.

We are a small independent and local business, but we also want to have a positive impact on the planet and our communities. So, we first attended Carbon Literacy Training and then decided to become accredited Carbon Literacy Trainers.

Carbon Literacy Training helps you to gain an awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities, and gives you the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.

Our course has been accredited by The Carbon Literacy Project. These courses often cost up to £150 per person to attend and we want to make it much more accessible for people who live and work in our community. So, we intend to offer the training for the cost of the certificate (£15).

Is this course right for me?

This accredited course will help you gain awareness of carbon dioxide costs, impacts, and most importantly how to reduce emissions. The course would be especially useful for those people who have a responsibility for sustainability and carbon reduction within their role, or have a personal interest in how they can reduce their own carbon footprint in.

The course will enable you to empower you to take climate action and provide the knowledge, skills, and confidence to act to reduce your carbon emissions to support the UK's Net Zero target.

What’s on offer?

Carbon Literate individuals understand how climate change will affect them, both geographically and locally. Individuals who receive Carbon Literacy training typically reduce their carbon emissions by 1 tonne of carbon for every year after their training.

The aims of the course are:

• To gain an understanding of the different greenhouse gases, where they come from and the impact they are having on our climate.
• To understand the impact that humans are having on natural cycles of weather and climate
• To know how you can reduce your carbon footprint
• To empower you to act and influence others.

During the course, attendees will need to complete a personal and group pledge, which will be submitted to the Carbon Literacy Project for assessment and certification. If your pledge is accepted then you will receive a certificate confirming that you are a Carbon Literate Citizen.
