About this event

  • Event lasts 6 hours

Join the D&G Climate Hub for our certified Carbon Literacy training course. This one-day session explores the climate crisis through discussion and workshop activities. This training is delivered by local trainers who live in southwest Scotland area and understand the specific local impacts of climate change, and how they affect our environment, communities and economy. The course is interactive, informal, and an easy way to explore achievable actions in our work and in our everyday lives.

Topics explored on the day include:

  • What is climate change?
  • Resources & waste
  • Communicating your climate message
  • The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals
  • Taking action as individuals and groups

The D&G Climate Hub's Carbon Literacy course has been specially designed for communities in SW Scotland and is independently accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project (https://carbonliteracy.com/), which has certified more than 128,000 individuals worldwide and worked with the BBC, NHS, and Creative Carbon Scotland.

Upon completion of the course participants will receive Carbon Literate certification and an e-badge (certificates and e-badge are included in the per-head cost).

The GSA Biosphere Partnership has found that as well as upskilling participants, Carbon Literacy training courses act as excellent networking opportunities. Evaluation of previous courses found that 64% of attendees made between 6-10 new connections, with 12% making 11-20 new connections during this single training day. These connections have created not only new community relationships but have generated opportunities for developing the local circular economy: climate action bringing robust, long term benefits for all.
