About this event

The Carbon Community will be hosting Community Science Volunteering on Saturday 30th August at our site near Llandovery, Wales. Join us for trees, science and fresh air!

Glandwr Forest is a new native broadleaf forest and is home to the Glandwr Forest Carbon Study which aims to accelerate and enhance the sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in trees and soil to tackle the climate crisis. This unique field trial looks at forest microbiome inoculation and enhanced rock weathering in a study involving 25,600 trees.

Each year we 'spruce up' the research plots and work to maintaining the integrity of the carbon study. This is extremely important to ensure that each of the 72 plots is clearly marked and the individual bar-codes are intact. Read more about the importance of our annual spruce up on our blog.

Activities include:

  • 🏷️ Checking the stakes and barcode tags
  • 📏 Checking and testing equipment for our Big Tree Measure
  • 🌳 In addition, there may be some additional maintenance opportunities!

Our activities are suitable for ages 16+, people under 18 must bring a responsible adult.

All activities are on rough terrain.
