To achieve Bronze, a Level 1 award on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), young people take part in an 15 week programe here at Cardiff Arts award Academy. Students will research their arts inspiration and share their skills with others. Bronze is available to young people aged 11 to 25. This program of 15 weeks not only aims to develop the individuals art language but also develop the social skills and confidence. By enabling their art practice to be applied through a variety of art applications. Enhancing life skills – as well as nurturing their developing talents, taking part also improves, confidence and self-esteem and builds their time management, team work and communications skills.
Week 1-5 | 2D
Week 1-5 will establish 2 dimensional art skills, focusing primarily on the drawing process. Various applications and skills will be covered over the 5 weeks, exploring a variety of materials. Exploring the drawing drawing process, as well as Printmaking, life drawing, painting and mixed media.
Week 5-10 | Textiles and Design
Textiles will be explored through a variety of approaches, building on learning from week 1-5 students will learn the process of stitch. looking at how they can use the sewing machine as a drawing tool. they will explore the highly skilled technique of Pattern cutting. students will engage in technology, using the laser cutter as a way of developing designs. and will develop a range of contemporary textile works within this 5 weeks. Including work using the laser cutter.
Week 10-15 | Pottery and 3D
Students will explore both hand building and throwing on the wheel, they will be taught how to develop a body of work, within a design brief. Allowing entrepreneurial skills to be developed.
This 15 week course, offers a firm grounding not only in art practice and application, but also the realities of being an art practitioner. All 15 weeks are tutored by higly skilled practioners and qualified teachers.
