Event description

Description

Geography teachers are invited to attend the annual Cardiff Case Studies conference at Cardiff University, where they will hear academics presenting their cutting-edge research. We have had very positive feedback from teachers who have attended past events and it is a day that the academic staff thoroughly enjoy too.

This year will also include activities for GCSE and Year 12 students, providing motivated students with a chance to explore links between school- and University-level geography. Attending this event will give students the chance to experience being a university student for the day, and an opportunity to undertake a mini research project in Cardiff City, working with Cardiff University staff and postgraduates. Students will also develop their presentation skills.

Structure of the day
During the morning session, there will be presentations for teachers and students, including one from the Royal Town Planning Institute. In the afternoon, students will work with our staff in groups on structured field activities while teachers are presented with new syllabus-relevant research case-studies. Teachers and students will finish the day together, with students presenting their research.

Attendance is free and includes lunch but we do require teachers and students to reserve a place. The programme will be sent to you nearer to the conference date.

Gwahoddir athrawon Daearyddiaeth i ddod i gynhadledd flynyddol Astudiaethau Achos Caerdydd ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd, lle byddant yn clywed academyddion yn cyflwyno eu hymchwil flaenllaw. Rydym wedi cael adborth cadarnhaol iawn gan athrawon sydd wedi bod i ddigwyddiadau’r gorffennol, ac mae’r staff academaidd yn mwynhau’r diwrnod yn fawr hefyd.

Eleni, bydd gweithgareddau ar gyfer myfyrwyr TGAU a Blwyddyn 12 yn ogystal, gan roi cyfle i fyfyrwyr brwdfrydig edrych ar y cysylltiadau rhwng daearyddiaeth ar lefel ysgol a Phrifysgol. Bydd y digwyddiad hwn yn rhoi’r cyfle i’r myfyrwyr gael blas ar sut beth yw bywyd prifysgol am y diwrnod, a’r cyfle i ymgymryd â phrosiect ymchwil byr yn ninas Caerdydd, gan weithio gyda staff a myfyrwyr ôl-raddedig Prifysgol Caerdydd. Bydd myfyrwyr hefyd yn datblygu eu sgiliau cyflwyno.

Trefn y diwrnod
Yn ystod sesiwn y bore, bydd cyflwyniadau ar gyfer yr athrawon a’r myfyrwyr, gan gynnwys cyflwyniad gan y Sefydliad Cynllunio Trefol Brenhinol. Yn y prynhawn, bydd y myfyrwyr yn gweithio gyda’n staff mewn grwpiau ar weithgareddau maes strwythuredig tra bod yr astudiaethau achos ymchwil sy’n berthnasol i’r maes llafur newydd yn cael eu cyflwyno i’r athrawon. Bydd yr athrawon a’r myfyrwyr yn dod at ei gilydd ar ddiwedd y dydd, gan roi’r cyfle i’r myfyrwyr gyflwyno eu hymchwil.

Mae mynediad yn rhad ac am ddim ac yn cynnwys cinio, ond mae angen i athrawon a myfyrwyr gadw lle. Anfonir y rhaglen atoch yn nes at ddyddiad y gynhadledd.

*Please note; this event will be delivered through the medium of English. However, you are welcome to contribute in Welsh during the Q&A. We will ask those attending if they wish to conduct the conversation in Welsh and will arrange a translator if ten per cent or more tell us that they do.
