Description

The second annual Cardiff Media Summit is being held on November 11th at the Wales Millennium Centre to discuss the findings of the IWA's Media Audit which will be launched ahead of the conference.

Sponsored by the BBC and hosted by the IWA, this is a fresh survey of the media in Wales – across print, broadcast and online and in Welsh and English – which is being carried out by the IWA's media policy group and academics, and will include data and commentary on the state of the Welsh media.

BBC Director of Strategy, James Purnell, will be delivering the keynote address on the challenges facing the BBC ahead of Charter Renewal and the future of the licence fee.

The summit will also look at the major issues affecting broadcasting in Wales, including future devolution & governance, the problems faced by the independent sector and the future of radio in Wales.

Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Ken Skates, will also discuss the state of the creative industries in Wales with Professor Ian Hargreaves five years on from his report "The Heart of Digital Wales."
