Archbishop Paul Gallagher
Vatican Secretary for Relations with States
The St Andrew's Foundation for Catholic Teacher Education is delighted to announce that this year’s Cardinal Winning Lecture will be given by the Vatican Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop Paul Gallagher (otherwise known as the Vatican’s Foreign Secretary). Last year we celebrated the 100th anniversary of state funded Catholic Education in Scotland by hearing from the First Minister. Recent renewed questioning by influential opinion formers of the existence of Catholic schools underlines the need for the whole community of Catholic Education to rededicate itself to the flourishing of our schools for the next 100 years. Come and join us as Archbishop Gallagher helps us see our work in the context of Global Catholic Education.
The Cardinal Winning Lecture, formerly known as the Catholic Education Week Lecture, was established in 1993 by the Department of Religious Education in St. Andrew's College. The lecture was instituted to showcase leading Catholic and Christian thinkers interested in education, Catholic education and the public space. We hope you will be able to join us for what promises to be a memorable event.
The lecture will take place in the Bute Hall, Gilbert Scott (Main) Building, Glasgow, G12 8QQ. Mass will precede the lecture and this will take place in the University Chapel at 9 am.
Please note: This event is open to those who have registered for tickets in advance only. Ticket holders are required to bring a printed copy of their ticket along with photographic ID. Only the person whose name appears on the ticket will be permitted to attend the event.
