About this Event

Care About Care?

A creative conversation for those who work in, make decisions about or have experience of the care system.

This event will showcase creative work by young people with experience of the care system as a celebration of their achievements but also as a stimulus for discussion and debate. The creative pieces made by the young people will be across a range of mediums: theatre, performance, film and VR. Following the performances, there will be a big conversation facilitated using open space technology. There will be no pre-set agenda or order of business, instead the conversation will be set by the people who are in attendance and will centre around the discussions that are urgent in that moment.

We may explore the following themes:

  • How can we make our young people’s experiences of care the best they can be?
  • How can we make staff’s experience of working with care experienced young people the best it can be?
  • How can we learn from each other across the UK?
  • How can creative work have an impact on the care system?

Groups in attendance:

  • Troupe A group for young people with experience of the care system, which offers a unique opportunity to get involved in theatre by seeing shows and shadowing professionals. • Leaving360 Film Installation A 13-minute immersive experience of leaving care told through the eyes of a young person via VR headsets.
