In previous Care Academies we’ve considered the potential for advice in this market through various aspects. From state system funding, the ways to pay privately and suitability of options, through to duties of powers of attorney and potential issues of deliberate deprivation.

Having developed your knowledge in this subject, you need to consider how best to capitalise and make use of this to help potential clients and your business.

This three hour workshop will consider how the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA) membership can help you enhance your standing with professional connections and consider other ways to develop your care business.

Learning objectives:

• Identify what’s required to attain the Later Life Adviser accreditation (LLAA) and become a SOLLA member.

• Explore the different sources of lead generation and business development.

• Evaluate the process for dealing with enquiries.

• Summarise how to establish the hard and soft facts for a potential client.

• Assess the Immediate Care Plan product and its options.

The half-day event will comprise the following:

Part 1 – Welcome

A brief recap of what was covered in Care Academy 2.

Part 2 – SOLLA accreditation

Looks at the process to obtain the Later Life Adviser Accreditation and the value of becoming a SOLLA member. This will include a typical later life case study of the type used by SOLLA when assessing advisers for accreditation. This section includes:

• Who the accreditation is for and why.

• A background to the LLAA.

• What happens at an assessment.

• What you need to prepare.

• What support Just/SOLLA can provide.

Part 3 – Working with professional connections

Working with other professionals to help mutual clients achieve better outcomes and fully understand the suitability of specific options with regard to care funding. This section includes:

• Making use of your knowledge of the care system.

• Working with solicitors and accountants.

• Awareness of care issues via website/social media for existing clients and families.

• Other areas to consider for business development/lead generation.

Part 4 – The solution for care funding

In conjunction with a specialist care financial adviser, we shall consider the process for dealing with clients and the specific options of immediate, capital protected and deferred care plans. This section includes:

• Process to follow including establishing hard/soft facts and requirements of the client.

• Establishing most suitable option for funding care and presenting your reports.

• Analysing all options of the Immediate Care Plan product.

The Care Academy event has been spilt into two 90 minute sessions, offering 3 hours of CPD on completion.
