Join us for a rewarding day of woodland care at Ashes Lane, Huddersfield. You’ll help nurture young trees by removing old guards and stakes, clearing grass, and adding mats and wood chip to support healthy growth. No experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm and a love for nature!
This event supports the White Rose Forest’s mission to protect and enhance existing woodlands across North and West Yorkshire. Healthy woodlands are vital for biodiversity, clean air and water, and climate resilience. Your efforts will help ensure these landscapes thrive for generations to come.

✔️ What to Bring:
- Sturdy footwear (walking boots or wellies recommended)
- Weather-appropriate clothing (layers, waterproofs, sun protection)
- Gardening gloves (if you have them – we’ll have spares)
- Packed lunch and water bottle
- Enthusiasm and a love for nature!
🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing:
- Removing old or broken tree guards and stakes
- Straightening guards and stakes around live trees
- Clearing grass from tree bases
- Adding mats and wood chip to support growth
- Helping Gorse and Hawthorn by removing guards
