- Oil and Filter Change – using the correct oil and filter types
- Coolant – different types of antifreeze, how to drain and refill, and confirming thermostat operation
- Brake Fluid – checking levels and understanding hygroscopic properties
- Gearbox Oil – checking levels and understanding types of oil
- Differential Oil – checking levels and types of oil
- Spark Plugs – removal and replacement, checking the gap, and cleaning
- Plug Leads – inspection and what to do if you forget the firing order
- Contact Breaker – cleaning, replacing, and setting the gap
- Ignition Timing – how to check correctly
- Valve Clearance (Pushrod Engines) – how to check and adjust
- Distributor Cap & Rotor Arm – inspecting for track lines and testing the rotor arm
- Brakes – removing and refitting brake pads and brake shoes
- Fuel Filter – fitting and replacing an inline fuel filter
- Choke & Throttle Operation – ensuring smooth function
- Idle Speed – how to make proper adjustments
