What it's About

Work in health and social care and would like to learn about regional Care Home initiatives? Then why not attend the second Annual Care Homes Conference hosted by the West Midlands Patient Safety Collaborative?

This full day event will be an opportunity for care home staff across the country to celebrate and learn from the projects being undertaken by other teams in the sector. Alongside speakers, we will have poster presentations and a number of breakout workshops on topics including compassion circles, Human Factors, Frailty and Improvement Skills.


Who Should Come

The event is open to all staff and organisations involved in health and social care. It will benefit healthcare professionals and other staff from acute trusts, community settings, nursing and residential care home managers and staff, specialist nurses, district nurses, Rapid Response Team and Case managers, allied health professionals, social care agencies, domiciliary care providers, GP’s, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Care Quality Commission, Universities and Charitable organisations involved with health and social care.


What's On

Taking place on 1 March 2018 at Yarnfield Park Training and Conference Centre, Stone, attendees will be able to hear about a number of care home programmes in the Midlands including PEACH (Proactive Healthcare of Older People in Care Homes) in Nottingham and SPACE (Safer Provision and Caring Excellence) in Walsall and Wolverhampton. Attendees will also be able to participate in workshops focusing on: Human Factors, Fraility, Compassion Circles and Improvement Methodology.

Belinda Dewar, Professor of Practice Improvement at University of West of Scotland and Andy Bradley, Founding Director of Frameworks 4 Change have already been confirmed as speakers. Other speakers to be confirmed so watch this space.

The West Midlands Patient Safety Collaborative (WMPSC), hosted by the West Midlands Academic Health Science Network (WMAHSN), supports members with innovative solutions to help deliver on improving patient safety. It aims to improve safety and continually reduce avoidable harm by helping organisations to work together to develop, implement, share and spread proven safety practice and interventions based on rigorous, evidence-based scientific methodologies.
