Event description

Description

Following the success of our Round Table Learning Event for Care Home Teams in September 2017 Newcastle Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group and the Academic Health Science Network for the North East and Cumbria are pleased to invite you to a follow on event.

Delirium is an acute confusional state that can happen when someone is ill. It is very common among care home residents and can be a sudden change over a few hours or days, and tends to vary at different times of the day. It can be caused by infection, commonly urine or chest, but there are many other possible causes including constipation, dehydration and pain. Although the underlying illness of condition needs to be treated, there are a lot of simple, practical things that can be done in the care home to minimise the effects of delirium and help the person recover as quickly as possible.
