Care in the time of Covid

The arrival of the Covid-19 virus has made everyday life feel very different. Health and care services are being delivered differently, and many services have stopped altogether. Our ability to take part in our communities and to see friends and family is limited. Everything from food shopping, to home care, to doctors appointments has changed.

Recent data seem to indicate that people are choosing not to ask for support from services for their ongoing or urgent health needs.

Traverse, a social research organisation, have conducted a series of in-depth interviews to understand the lived experience of people accessing care that is non-Covid related, focusing on care that has been postponed or cancelled and care that people have avoided seeking.

PPL are supporting National Voices and Traverse in the delivery of these programmes of work and this webinar.

The Research Director at Traverse, Lucy Farrow, will present the findings, which are key to ensure policy makers respond effectively to people’s concerns, be that through better communication or service accessibility design decisions.

National Voices will then introduce you to their new platform Our Covid Voices. Our Covid Voices wants to share with the world how those with long-term conditions, disabilities and other health and care needs are living during the pandemic in the UK. Our Covid Voices aims to be a first draft of history, with people across the country sharing their experiences of the UK under lockdown as they happen.
