Description

In response to an identified need and wish to develop practice across our residential child care service in relation to care planning/looked after children’s reviews , we have organised 2 development sessions on the afternoons of 22 and 26 February 2018 from 1pm to 4pm for all practitioners and managers. These sessions will be delivered by Angela Maitland, Independent Reviewing Officer and Carol Porter, External Manager.

There is an expectation that all staff attend these workshops as core training/development. The workshops will be interactive and include the following aims:

  • To promote knowledge and understanding of the purpose and associated requirements and responsibilities related to care planning/review;

  • To support increased appreciation of these processes, through reference to legislation, policy, literature and research and to explore the role residential child care has within;

  • In line with our Ethos of Care, to explore how best to support the meaningful participation of young people in their care planning/reviews;

  • To increase practice and managerial competence, confidence and ownership in relation to these core areas of practice.

Organised by

Part of Aberdeen City Council's Children's Social Work service, we provide in-house training for our staff.
