Description

Sylvia will offer a blend of presentation styles starting with a short talk about her background, her experiences in the Third Sector…as an entrepreneur, business person and women. She will also explore conventional thinking within SME’s while inspiring social good, the benefits of the relationship between academia and entrepreneurship and the great opportunities that lie at community and regional levels within the Third Sector.

The session will contain interactive elements that will inspire and motivate a new generation of social entrepreneurs. Sylvia will go on to facilitate an interactive workshop for the students to match a social issue they are aware of and their degrees to stimulate discussion on how they can impact and/ or integrate with the Third Sector.

Sylvia is the founding director of MsMissMrs, a social enterprise and community interest company that supports female empowerment.

MsMissMrs has developed a Get S.E.T. (Self Empowerment Tools) programme, for the empowerment of women and girls on a range of health, wellbeing and self-care issues. The programme is delivered both from the MsMissMrs Glasgow-based hub and, beyond the city, through the provision of accredited Get S.E.T. Workshop Facilitator for girls course - equipping others to deliver these important tools to girls and women within their own communities.

MsMissMrs has used innovative funding, including crowd-funding and social investment, to grow it’s products and services. Since it was established in 2013 its surplus’ have been reinvested in the provision of fully-funded places for vulnerable girls and women on self-esteem and empowerment workshops.
