Career management for researchers: Self-employment - is it for you?

Dr Hiten Vyas: Business Adviser, Enterprise Club, the University of Northampton

By the time you complete your doctorate you will have acquired many transferable skills, some of which could perhaps lead you to starting your own business. For anyone thinking about starting a business, this workshop provides an opportunity to explore the basics. It looks at the reasons why you might choose to become self-employed, the advantages and disadvantages, and the key areas to think about when starting a business.

This workshop has a follow-up session on January 11th Self-employment - Business Planning. If you are interested in taking the idea of self-employment further then do book both workshops

About Dr Hiten Vyas - Hiten is a business support professional with extensive experience in providing advisory and consulting services to both commercial and social businesses ranging from start-up companies to established SMEs to large organisations.
