Channel 4, BFI NETWORK and Blak Wave Productions are hosting an inspiring session for new entrants, emerging creatives and career changers based in the South West who are looking to develop and pitch ideas for scripted storytelling. Our aim is to ensure that women of colour are visible and proportionally represented at all levels in the film and TV industry, so this event is specifically for those who identify as female or non-binary and as someone with a Black, global majority or ethnically diverse background.

A core fundamental skill is being able to communicate your ideas concisely and visually to either secure funding or recruit a team to support your project. This skill is transferable for various roles in the creative industry including directors, producers, researchers and development producers.

Workshop around what makes a great narrative story

Written and visual pitching vs treatments

Live opportunities and networking

The event will be held at the Channel 4 Bristol Hub (2nd Floor Fermentation Building, South Hawkins Lane, Finzels Reach, Bristol BS1 6JQ) on Thu 16th March. Arrivals are from 5.30pm with networking and refreshments, then the workshop will start promptly at 6pm and finish at 8pm.

Travel and Access Bursaries: We are able to offer travel bursaries for anyone who needs financial support in order to travel from anywhere within the South West region to the venue. Similarly, we can offer access bursaries for anyone who needs additional support to attend this event – examples of costs we can cover include BSL interpreter fees, companion support or childcare costs.
