Hugh Cairns Surgical Society and TRANSFuSE (Oxford's Academic Medicine Society) present the Careers in Academic Surgery Conference 2017!




The focus of the day will be inspiration, innovation, and ‘how to’ develop a successful academic career.



Tickets: FREE (and includes a free lunch!), with a £15 registration deposit which is refunded after registration.

  • 11:15-12:15 - Five quick-fire talks. How and why to apply for an AFP, innovation and entrepreneurship in surgery, balancing clinical and academic work as an ACF, exciting developments in surgery

  • 12:15-12:45 - Panel discussion chaired by Prof. Handa: life as an academic surgeon

  • 12:45-14:00 - Free lunch with poster competition

  • 14:00-15:00 - Workshops (Delegates choose two: CV clinic, how to make a great poster, critical appraisal with Prof Carl Heneghan)

  • 15:15-16:00 - Closing talk
