About this event

Cold Islanders presents a multi-activity day inspired by the people who held and ran spaces for the community across the borough.

Timings TBC: Scrapbooking workshop; collaging black community space aesthetics from salons and barbers, to pubs, shops, community centres and places of worship and co-imagining what future spaces could become. This will also be informed by the research of a British-Jamaican Architect who is currently investigating the importance of Black spaces.

All day: An exhibition of digitised photos/archival imagery for attendees to view.

Timings TBC: Pose with friends, family and fellow attendees in our designated archiving area where photographer Takenya Holness will be capturing the people.

Timings TBC: A film screening showing archive footage ahead of a feature film. followed by a post-screening panel with the researcher, producers and community members we will interview.

Timings TBC: Closing ‘lime’ with a local DJ set, cards, dominoes and hopefully sunshine as we simply simply socialise, chat and connect.

Drop-ins welcome to the exhibition area and lime. Please book your place for the film screening and workshop, as numbers are limited.
