Caring for a Generation: a conference for professionals & service providers
Mon 12 June 2017, 09:00 – 17:00 BST
The first generation of people diagnosed with HIV are now living into older age. We are also seeing a new phenomenon as more people than ever before are diagnosed with HIV in their fifties or older.
One in three people accessing care in the UK is aged 50 and over, and the proportion of people living with HIV in this age group continues to rise.
Terrence Higgins Trust would like to invite you to attend a free conference aimed at professionals from a variety of sectors who may work with or for older people living with HIV . The event will explore ways to ensure people who are growing older with HIV receive the support they require.
The day promises to be informative and interactive, with a range of speakers and workshops, including:-
• the latest research on HIV and ageing (Professor Alan Winston - Imperial College London)
• understanding shame and stigma (Maurice Nagington - Manchester University)
• women and HIV
• providing supportive welfare advice
• use of language and terminology
• sharing best practice around providing services for older people living with HIV
Places are limited so book early to ensure your place!
