Caring for Carers at Work; CIPD B&MK
Wednesday, 26 October 2016 from 18:30 to 21:30 (BST)
Claire McCartney and Dianah Worman are Associates of the CIPD and Co-Directors of Inclusive Talent. They authored the CIPD research report “Creating an enabling future for carers in the workplace” (June 2016). The research asked employers and carers about their experience of workplace policies and processes for supporting carers. In this session Claire and Dianah will share good examples from the research findings on methods for improving the effective and inclusive employment of carers in the workplace. Organisations which understand the physical and mental stress experienced by carers can develop and use methods to improve wellbeing. In addition to the benefits to individual carers which allow them to achieve a reasonable level of work-life balance, 45% of employers believe their general support of carers has made a positive difference to organisation culture. For those employers who have a specific policy for carers, 66% have seen a positive difference.
This event forms part of a series under the running title "Creating Harmony" offering members a range of topical subjects for both generalists and specialists. You will be supporting your Continuing Professional Development because through working with the facilitator, you will understand how to be:
Purposeful: designing and managing effective processes which benefit employees and the organisation
Agile: working with the latest theories on effective and inclusive management
Collaborative: learning from good practices in organisations
Expert: explaining the benefits from more effectively supporting staff
Professional photography and video production will be taking place at the event, and these images may be used on future promotional materials for CIPD. Please note that by attending the event, you are giving your consent for your image to be used on any CIPD promotional materials.
