About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Welcome to the Caring with Confidence: Practical Skills for Carers - Part 2 event at the Alzheimer Scotland Fife Brain Health and Dementia Resource Centre.

The aim of this session is to provide carers of people with dementia with practical knowledge and skills to support essential aspects of physical health, including continence, foot care, mobility, hearing, vision and oral health. The session will focus on recognising common issues, implementing preventative care, and ensuring comfort and well-being for both the carer and the person with dementia.

The delivery of this session will be like a market place where carers can visit information stands by a variety of healthcare professionals.

Frequently asked questions

Can you bring the person with dementia that you care for?

You are welcome to bring the person with dementia that you care for. A separate room will be available where Alzheimer Scotland staff will provide engaging activities. When you register for a place, you will be asked whether you plan to bring them along so we can make the necessary arrangements.

The Dementia Carers Education Programme has been developed through a partnership project of NHS Fife, Fife Health and Social Care Partnership, Alzheimer Scotland, Fife Carers Centre and STAND. The programme is open to all unpaid carers who care for someone living with dementia. All sessions are optional, and you are welcome to attend more than once as your needs as a carer change. The aim of the programme is educational, to support you to gain practical knowledge and skills, learning from skilled health and social care professionals, as well as connecting with other carers.
