Event description

Description

At this event the Diocese of Leeds is launching Caritas Leeds.

The Diocese supports a variety of organisations working with disadvantaged groups within our Diocese. There are Chaplaincies supporting those in prison or hospital as well as a number of other Chaplaincies and Catholic Associations that operate at a Diocesan level that provide many services to people in need. All this work is in addition to the groups and projects within individual parishes: helping refugees and migrants, activities for young people, activities for older people, all sorts of parish groups that seek to help those in need in their local area.

Caritas Leeds is an umbrella organisation where all charities, agencies, projects, services and groups that are involved in social action or social care in the Diocese of Leeds, can meet together on a regular basis. We want to provide opportunities for parishes to work together with the aim of working in a more coordinated way and identifying other social needs in our neighbourhoods which may not be currently recognised and addressed.

The event will be introduced by the Bishop of Leeds, the Right Rev Marcus Stock, and will be addressed by Dr Philip McCarthy (Chief Executive of the Catholic Social Action Network - CSAN).
There will be opportunities to engage in a number of workshops and time for meeting and networking with people from across the Diocese.

All parishes, Chaplaincies and Diocesan Associations are warmly invited to send along representatives to this meeting.
