Event description
Carlo Rovelli returns to Guardian Live, to introduce his new book, Helgoland.

About this Event

A theoretical physicist and the bestselling author of Seven Brief Lessons on Physics and The Order of Time, Rovelli is celebrated for his riveting and illuminating writing on some of science’s most complex ideas, and for his reflections on the connections between physics and culture.

In Helgoland, he captures the fascinating history - and exhilarating potential - of quantum physics, taking us on a journey from its beginnings in 1925, when 23-year-old Werner Heisenberg’s hayfever indirectly led to the key insights that today have given us modern technology and nuclear energy. Rovelli tells the story of a revolutionary theory and its bright young founders who were to become some of the most famous Nobel winners.

Join him in conversation with Guardian science editor, Ian Sample, as they explore this transformative theory about the universe and our place in it. He’ll also be answering some of your questions.
