Event description

Description

Learn about the history of Coldside Library and the Hilltown area, where a rich history of trade, religion and reform has shaped Dundee as we know it.

From bonnetmakers to barons, the area’s early history is full of characters, and tales from later years show the strong sense of place and community the area is still known for.

During this event, you will discover the possibilities for locally inspired research through Dundee Libraries’ historical collections, both physical and digital, and may even be inspired to start your own research journey…

To commemorate the death 100 years ago of industrialist, philanthropist and library benefactor Andrew Carnegie a number of library led events are being arranged over the autumn months. Carnegie significantly impacted the built environment of Dundee. Join us on our Carnegie ABCDE trail of libraries as we celebrate his lasting contributions in some of the five buildings he funded for the City.
