About this event

  • Event lasts 4 days 3 hours

Starting at the village hall we will walk up through Crow wood onto the Kintyre Way. We will head westwards, then follow a forestry road to Grianan , where we will pick up the Kintyre Way again, circling back to Portnastorm and back to the Village hall. There will be a stop at the viewpoint, taking in fabulous views of the Isle of Arran and the Kilbrannan Sound. It's a circular walk, approx 10k.. Another option is to add in the short but steep walk up the nearby Deer Hill to the trig point. This could be tackled before or after the main walk. There's always options on the Kintyre Way. Following the walk there will be an optional visit to the Carradale Flower Festival, whre refreshments will be available.

6.25 miles, quite challenging, 3 hours

FREE, but donations are welcome on the day or online:

FRIENDS OF THE KINTYRE WAY

Friends of the Kintyre Way walks provide a great opportunity to explore Kintyre via The Kintyre Way and to meet other Friends of the Kintyre Way, so please come along to as many of the walks as you can. It will also be an opportunity to showcase that Wild and Beautiful 100-mile route that we have on our doorstep. So please take plenty of photos of walkers having fun, the flora and fauna, and the marvellous scenery!

Photos can also be posted on our Facebook pages via the visitor pages of The Kintyre Way and The Friends of the Kintyre Way. You can also post on Kintyre Walks and, of course, share on your own social media channels.

Remember! It's okay to walk more on The Kintyre Way in August than is on the programme. Check out the Walk and Ride leaflets to help you plan.

The Friends of the Kintyre Way kindly host our Kickstarters on the Kintyre Way walks on behalf of The Kintyre Way, which covers the insurance for the event.

By participating in an event organised by The Friends of The Kintyre Way, you are participating in walks hosted by volunteers. They generously offer their time and knowledge for free but may not have formal training in first aid, navigation, or emergency response. Event participants are responsible for assessing their fitness and suitability for participating in activities for their own and other's safety and well-being during the walk. Ensure you are appropriately dressed and equipped, including water, for all conditions.

Regrettably, dogs are not permitted on these organised walks due to the number of participants and the timing constraints, and some walks will cross fields with livestock. However, much of the Kintyre Way is suitable for dogs on a short lead. At all times please follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and be a responsible dog walker.
