Carsebridge Roundtable: The Cost of Doing Good (Session 1)
Overview
The Cost of Doing Good is the first in a five-part Carsebridge Roundtable Series bringing together community leaders, policy makers, funders, and practitioners to examine the real financial and structural barriers facing community-led regeneration in Scotland.
Across the country, local organisations taking on disused buildings, capital projects, or major community assets are increasingly disadvantaged by turnover-based thresholds, rising operating costs, and policy frameworks that unintentionally penalise those driving regeneration from the ground up.
This roundtable will open a frank, constructive conversation about:
- the true cost of community-led regeneration
- the impact of turnover-linked thresholds and regulation
- the role of policy in strengthening or weakening community capacity
- what national change is needed to support local leadership
