Computing at School (CAS)
(Worcestershire, Herefordshire & Gloucestershire)
Google Raspberry Pi Project Launch
At The Chase School
Geraldine Road, Malvern, WR14 3NZ
Tuesday 9th July 2013 4pm - 5.30pm
This project and CPD is for schools based in Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. (ie in the CAS 3 Counties area). Similar projects will be running in other Hubs - ask your local CAS Hub Leader for details if CAS3C is not your local CAS Hub?
Schools around the UK are being given free Raspberry Pi computers, to help create a new generation of computer scientists. Funded by Google, CAS and the Raspberry Pi Foundation hope that the free devices will inspire children to take up coding. As part of this project the CAS Three Counties Hub has some Raspberry Pi's to loan out for student projects.
So if you are interested in the potential of the Raspberry Pi in schools, and would maybe like to borrow some Raspberry Pi's for projects with students then this 'Getting to grips with Raspberry Pi workshop’ is the event for you!
Topics to be covered include;
Look at ways to use Raspberry Pi’s in school
Discuss benefits and implications for schools
Look at some of the national Raspberry Pi projects
Examine some Raspberry Pi teaching resources
Please feel free to bring your own Pi, DVI/ VGA Adapter, keyboard and mouse. Do not worry if you do not have any of these though, as you may leave with some!
This promises to be another extremely well attended, worthwhile event, and at the very least an opportunity to network with other colleagues from other schools with an interest in Raspberry Pi's. We hope to see you at The Chase School on the 9th July.
