This promises to be another well attended, worthwhile event, and at the very least an opportunity to network with other colleagues from other schools with an interest in Computing as both a subject and as an extra-curricular activity. We hope to see you at Stourport High School on the 26th June.
3.45 - Introduction and Welcome to the second Three Counties CAS Hub meeting. What is CAS? What can it offer ICT and Computing teachers? What have we done this year / what do we have planned? An update in general on the national Comp Sci agenda / CAS activities.
4.00- GCSE "Computing" explained - representatives from AQA, OCR, EdExcel will be explaining the relative merits of their GCSE "Comp Sci" syllabii, and there will also be an update on "Technical" vocational qualifications - eg BTEC IC&T, CNATs.
4.45- a quick glance at the OCR GCSE Computing "tasks" for 2012/13/14 (they will have been released by then)
5.00- Thinking of a good programming language to teach your students? How about Python? A quick Python intro.....
5.15pm Looking ahead - Summer / Autumn 2012 CPD opportunities - Training day at Hagley RC on July 6th, planned "significant" CPD opportunity by the regional CAS "Network of Excellence" at Worcester University, other "twilight" CPD (eg GCSE Comp Sci Development Group, Python CPD)
5.30pm - Wrap up, Next meeting date?
