Bring a Raspberry Pi to the session. We will look at setting the Pi up and making sure it works. We will have a look at some teaching resources and work through some tutorials to get us ready for teaching.

Getting ready for the new Computing curriculum.

 

Agenda

  • Raspberry Pi session (if you are bringing your own make sure you have a Power supply, OS on an SD Card and if possible a HDMI to DVI lead (for monitors with DVI input)
  • Discussion about the New Computing Curriculum
  • Sharing good practice and resources for the new curriculum for KS3
  • Looking at GCSE Computer Science qualifications. Will it be AQA or OCR?
  • Discussion on possible training using Python. Who, When, How much and Where?
  • AOB 

Refreshments will be available.

Computing At School (CAS)

The Computing At School group (CAS) aims to promote the teaching of Computing at school. CAS was born out of our excitement with our discipline, combined with a serious concern that many students are being “turned off” computing by a combination of factors that have conspired to make the subject seem dull and pedestrian. Our goal is to put the excitement back into Computing at school. 

The Computing At School  group (CAS) is a grass roots organisation, whose energy, creativity, and leadership comes from its members. CAS is a collaborative partner with the BCS through the BCS Academy of Computing, and has formal support from other industry partners. Membership is open to everyone, and is very broad, including teachers, parents, governors, exam boards, industry, professional societies, and universities. We speak for the discipline of computing at school level, inc.  FE, and not for any particular interest group.
